People criticise #Aikido for a lack of striking in it's curriculum.
What they don't realise is that O'sensei's early students were already highly ranked yudansha in #Judo, #Karate, #Kendo and #koryu ryuha.
He didn't need to teach how to punch, kick or grapple, because they already knew that.
Instead he taught what they didn't know, 'takemusu aiki'.
In those early days, Aikido didn't have a striking curriculum because it didn't need a striking curriculum. -
@mojala @rimmon1971 @karatejukka I'm actually on the #MartialArts Alliance #Discord server, where there are channels and people for many different martial arts. Including a #iaido / #kendo / #jodo one. Also #koryu #karate #aikido etc etc.
