A few years ago, a wildfire ravaged parts of the Kenai Peninsula here in Alaska. A year later, we drove through the same area and witnessed the rebirth of what burnt the previous summer. Amongst the blackened trees were huge fields of fireweed in all directions.
This painting, called "Beauty from Ashes," is an attempt to capture what we saw that summer.
