I rewatched Bob Burnett’s wonderful short (25 min) film about Keith Rowe today, ‘What is Man & What is Guitar?’. It’s inspirational & life-affirming, but also quite heartbreaking. I doubt I could love his ideas & his music any more.
If you’re interested in notions of music & art, & how one person has navigated his unique & singular lifetime through it all, it’s well worth your time.

I rewatched Bob Burnett’s insightful and very moving short documentary about Keith Rowe this afternoon: ‘What Is Man and What Is Guitar?: Keith Rowe’. If you’ve not seen it, I recommend it; it’s only 25 minutes long.
As time advances inexorably, it feels even more important to capture the moments that matter—in music as well as in so much else—and to live between the ‘clicks’.

Brian Olewnick’s book is excellent and I think any music fan would be fascinated by with what and how Keith Rowe interacts with his tabletop guitar. AMM, his free improv ensemble played with Pink Floyd, Cream & just about every other psychedelic luminary of the period at the London Roundhouse and other places but his sonic journey outside of that period is fascinating. He’s a true iconoclast in every way.
