  1. I listened to almost 7 hours of Fushitsusha yesterday, and what's the first thing I want to listen to this morning? More Fushitsusha! Now, every album feels short in comparison.

"A Death Never to Be Complete"

An album I don't own but got from Soulseek. Haven't heard it before.

  2. I've tried a few times before without luck, but now, I finally felt ready to explore the 6+ hours Fushitsusha Secret Black Box. So far, so good. Let's see how far into the black vortex I'm capable of traveling. I just know that I need to eat lunch soon.

  3. Going to test my pupper's patience with 2 hours 23 minutes of Keiji Haino and Boris live. Avi included the live album that came out of this show in her main discography list for Boris, but I could only find this YT with the bootlegged audio of the full show.

  4. Keiji Haino and Reinhold Friedl – Truly, Slightly, Overflowing, Whereabout Of Good Will freq.org.uk/reviews/keiji-hain a darkly foreboding and quite a tough listen, but it’s oddly charming throughout. ... so far as musicianship goes it’s a grand exemplar of a certain trend in often-quiet texture-based #improvisation. #keijihaino is a terrifying vocalist so having a whole set where he can go off vocally is a treat. #avantgarde #musicreview Words: @Hakarl

  5. Some releases feel so overwhelming that I spend more time thinking about how great they are than actually listening to them.

Fushitsusha certainly has some of those, and from my collection, "I Saw It! That Which Before I Could Only Sense..." stands out especially, with the title track clocking in at 84 minutes 24 seconds. Today, I finally dared to enter into the vastness again.

  6. New #review today: "#KeijiHaino and #NatsukiTamura had never played together before, and hadn’t discussed what they might do before they walked onto the stage of the Shinjuku Pit Inn that day. Both are well-known improvisers, Haino with his guitar often producing walls of wailing feedback and noise, Tamura with his trumpet, percussion, and voice producing a bewildering variety of unexpected acoustic noises." #ExposeOnline #ImprovisedMusic #FreeJazz expose.org/index.php/articles/

  7. Haino/O'Rourke/Ambarchi: "With pats on the head..". 3xLP, documenting a 2018 concert in Tokyo. Ambarchi said during an interview that his and O'Rourke's task is to make Haino shine, but for at least the first half of this set, which I find very Derek Baily-like, I think they shine equally, changing instruments from track to track. But when Haino does one last switch, from "Improdent Oboe" to electric guitar, we know where this is headed. #KeijiHaino #JimORourke #OrenAmbarchi #vinyl #NowPlaying

  13. #Upcoming Originally released in 2004 as two separate versions contrasting his sonic spectrum — one Soft, the other Violent — “Black Blues” is one of #KeijiHaino’s most provocative recordings for improvised guitar and voice. Available via #Room40, August 2nd. room40.bandcamp.com/album/blac

  14. This is kind of a "best of" when it comes to different #Fushitsusha styles, and may serve as a suitable starting point for newcomers to what is the best free form rock band of all time. It certainly worked for me. If you can handle the chaos of the first track, next up is heavy hitters like "Pathetique", Haino's trademark extreme vocals with sparse backing, a long, almost post-rock like track with "pretty" singing...and some more beautiful cacophony. #music #KeijiHaino

  15. youtube.com/watch?v=76of5x5pba #KeijiHaino live always brings intense energies in whatever guise his set takes. I’m glad I’ve seen him live at least once. That was in rock band form but I can’t recall if it was with his group #Fushitsusha or another group of musicians. Either way I remember him still using a few of the same gadgets he uses here. I love the hand synth device he employs toward the end of this footage.

  16. #NowPlaying Drifting to the ethereal sound of “Syuuka” (1997) by Japanese minimalist trio #OnnaKodomo with Yuko Hasegawa (bass, voice), Shizuo Uchida (guitar, aka #Nijiumu with #KeijiHaino), and Shinmei Suzuki (violin). They were featured on P.S.F.’s “Tokyo Flashback 4”, and Charnel Music’s, “Land of the Rising Noise Vol. 2” compilations. youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK

#KeijiHaino is something of a hero of mine. I've been stealing musical ideas off him for some 20+ years now.

    Here he is, a few years ago, putting together a #mixtape of... lots of stuff #Armenian #opera, #blues #folk #hiphop #medieval #music... and a few bits inbetween.

Despite Haino being a name in experimental music, much of this is recognisable as traditional or folk music. Weird, but within a sustained narrative.

It's a great mix, is my point.

I’m pretty sure I used to see this one in stores or covered in The Wire quite a bit but I never purchased. I really should have, this is one excellent duo with each of these musicians matching wits quite perfectly. An incredible conversation of gnarly, knotted improvisation. #Tzadik

  19. With the best of feelings and warmth to the memory of #PeterBrotzmann, who has left this sphere for a next one. Grateful for all he did and shared. Happy to have seen him life the once, in 2018 at the Chapel here in town, with the equally legendary #KeijiHaino -- a night to remember. #music
