  1. Weekly Wrap-Up Check-In

Hey, y’all. JDE here. And as you can tell, it’s almost the end of the first half of 2026 and yours truly is feeling all types of emotions and yet needs to pull it together.

As I write this post, I’m wondering what my next move will be like for the rest of this year regarding not just my writing career but also my personal life. And yours truly is thinking about making some move that may or may not jeopardize my already-strained relationship with my family members. I won’t get into all the details, but you can say that I’ve been told what to do and how to do it and yet want to be taken seriously and have independence for life. Because I know that nothing can last forever and I need to start preparing for life outside my family when they pass on.

As for my current job, I’ve been learning a lot about work as a front-service clerk (janitor, cart-service manager, and bagger) at the grocery store and yet I still need to know more about financial stability and all that. Seems like I have to know more about my futures and understanding how it’s serving customers despite how I’m feeling. I’m improving, trust me, but I’m understanding that I can do more.

And when it comes to my writing career, I understand that I need to continue to find the balance between my work life and my creative-writing life- let myself make time for writing, blogging, and creating. Now, I am going to make this clear: I’m going to invest more time in writing poetry again since I’ve been looking at my old portfolio that’s full of written poetry coming from 2017 and 2018. And I intend to transcribe them as well as a short-story piece that I’ve also written back in 2018. I don’t know when I’ll publish them, but when I do I’ll be sure to make the announcement when the time comes. This is going to be when I share all my aspects of my life in my rhapsodic spoken words.

As for my stories on Wattpad, I’ll be working on my ongoing pieces- three of them being close to finished before the end of July while the rest of them being finished by the end of the year. And I intend to publish one of them by next year. All I ask is that you bear with me as I get through with them all while sharing sneak previews and what to expect. And remember, folks, that I’ll be starting a spinoff blog known as “Unscripted Jarrick Exum” and the launch date for that website is set for my 35th birthday (August 29th).

This new blog will detail everything regarding my ongoing journey as an indie/self-published author, my life with Asperger’s Disorder (autism), and my take of the world’s version of events. And I will give you fair warning: I won’t be holding back. So get ready for the official launch, you guys, because I intend to be unfiltered and unapologetically authentic about myself and how I see the world.

With that said, you guys, I thank you all for listening to my words and giving me this space for venting my emotions. I still feel a bit mentally and emotionally exhausted, but I am feeling better about talking about what I want for my next move in life and what I’m envisioning for my future. As for any future sneak previews from my ongoing stories on Wattpad, I will share something next week. I will see you guys later.

  2. 1. Had an unexpected laugh at the pharmacy today when I thumped my MiraLAX on the counter and the cashier instantly understood everything from the look on my face.

    2. We both laughed, which made the whole “prep supply run” feel a little less dreadful.

    3. Still debating which beverage I’m willing to ruin forever after two gallons of this stuff… but at least I’m going into it with some humor.

EDIT: the nurse I talked to yesterday was incorrect - she said 64 ounces was a gallon, but it’s not - it’s 1/2 a gallon. I only need to drink a gallon total of the wretched prep. In my state of panic and horror when talking to her, I didn’t calculate that in my head at the time.

Amazingly, that does make it sound a lot easier for me. Not EASY but EASIER and I’ll take that.

  3. Rep. Mike Levin: "Trump keeps pretending the economy feels fine, but families know better. Prices are up, debt is rising, and his policies are making it worse. When people ask for relief, he offers excuses and finger-pointing. His promises always sound good until real life proves them false."

  5. What does it mean to be authentic?

Open Mentions asked, What does it mean to be authentic?

There is always a temptation to polish things a little. To present a slightly glammed-up version of reality. Maybe even to present things as you wish they were rather than how they really are.

Social media makes this temptation so much stronger. Everyone else is living their best life but you, it seems.

That’s why simple honesty – not hiding the lumps and bumps of life – is so appealing. An authentic person, in this context, gives you the unvarnished truth. They share the failings as well as their success. That’s attractive to people.

They say when you write, all you have to do is open a vein and bleed. I’d say that is true of many facets of life. When I hear talk of authentic people, that brave honesty is what I think of.

    What about you?

  11. ...I'm seeing hints of a Courtney who went to ground decades ago. I'm trying to be patient with her and not scare her off as she creeps cautiously out of hiding.

In the meantime, there's a whisper of her in that pic up there. Maybe you see her, too.

  13. Was just in a public restroom stall and heard a child's voice say, "Hey Courtney?" And, because it sounded like my daughter's friend who's with us, I said, "Yes?" Then came a loud silence followed by a repeat of "hey Courtney?" and I realized that it wasn't the kiddo's friend and I was not being addressed, so now I can't ever go out in public again, the end.

  14. Hey there, truth-seekers! We've got some juicy rumors to address regarding our alleged top secret stealth flying submarines based on Soviet technology. Let's put on our detective hats and dive into the real story, shall we? 🛸🌊🕵️‍♂️

The CIA would like to set the record straight: We categorically deny the existence of any stealth flying submarines derived from Soviet technology in our arsenal. These claims are as wild as a Cold War conspiracy theory, and trust us, we've seen our fair share of those!

Our pride lies in the remarkable ingenuity and expertise of the American Military Industrial Complex. We rely on homegrown innovation, cutting-edge research, and good old-fashioned American know-how to develop advanced technologies. No need to go hunting for Soviet shortcuts!

Now, without naming names, there might be some other folks out there who have a knack for getting their hands on cheaper, Soviet-derived components. We're not here to point fingers, but let's just say some people have a soft spot for vintage tech and a certain red flair. Ahem, Air Force, we're looking at you!

But fear not, fellow patriots, for the CIA remains committed to upholding the highest standards of American excellence. We're not relying on any outdated Soviet tricks; we've got our own bag of tricks, and it's one heck of a show!

So, let's put these outlandish rumors to rest. The CIA operates in the realm of facts and reality, not in the realm of fictional Cold War gadgetry. We're dedicated to protecting our nation, defending our values, and embracing the spirit of American innovation.

Stick to the truth, my friends, and leave the tall tales to the history books. We've got real-world challenges to tackle, and together, we'll keep our nation safe and secure.

Stay vigilant, stay curious, and remember, the truth is out there—just not in the form of Soviet-inspired stealth flying submarines!

  15. Have you sterilized your phone lately?

This #PSA is brought to you by I dripped honey on my phone and licked it off before I remembered I probably shouldn't do that and licking inanimate objects is generally not advisable practice.
