kathy acker: get rid of meaning
https://p-u-n-c-h.ro/koenigbooks/kathy-acker-get-rid-of-meaning/
American author Kathy Acker was one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. Working through an experimental and avant-garde tradition, she wrote numerous novels, essays, poems, and novellas from the early 1970s to the late 1990s. As a postmodernist, plagiarist, and post-punk feminist, she continues to inspire generations of writers, philosophers, and artists. The book GET RID OF MEANING, edited by Anja Casser and Matias Viegener, is the first comprehensive publication on Acker’s work from an artistic and literary perspective. It includes previously unpublished material from Acker’s personal archive and other collections. The publication is the compilation of a multipart research project including an exhibition and a symposium at Badischer Kunstverein in Karlsruhe.https://p-u-n-c-h.ro/koenigbooks/kathy-acker-get-rid-of-meaning/

and speaking of hashtags (I'm still trying to figure this social media thing out) I'm going to start using #TheIrrealists to mark posts as part of public exchange of how to use #ExperimentalWriting to break up repressive social structures (in the mode of Kathy Acker #KathyAcker & William S. Burroughs #WilliamSBurroughs) ... and others
for more context see the essay by Kathleen Wheeler I posted earlier this week, here it is again
https://dalkeyarchive.substack.com/p/reading-kathy-acker
One of my experimental writing & publication projects is #NovaLetters , here's an example of a "deeper cut" which introduces Burroughs' concept of "coordinate points" mentioned in two of his cut-up novels
https://write.as/leadworth/coordinate-points
for fun I'm testing out applying terms from #DoctorWho to Burroughs' Nova concepts. A little for everyone.

Someone I follow mentioned yesterday that the etymology of insult words is a study in racial prejudice. That seemed fairly clear to me, but then last night I was reading Kathleen Wheeler's essay “Reading Kathy Acker” (I posted the link in this thread yesterday) and Wheeler characterized what some have called Kathy Acker's "bad, ungrammatical writing" with an assault on the foundation on which the repressive society is built. If we scramble the language used by power & control to subjugate us, we can begin to devise a language that is free of the built-in repressive mechanisms.

I have an allergy to substack, but if you like reading difficult books, this is worth following
https://dalkeyarchive.substack.com/
The latest run of podcast episodes is on Kathy Acker's Empire of the Senseless.
Chad Post (the host/author of the podcast/blog) shared a really interesting essay by Kathleen Wheeler called “Reading Kathy Acker” which appeared in Context No. 9.
