The astronaut who wouldn't trust a computer trusted the calculations of a Black mathematician NASA had confined to a segregated office.

In 1960 she and engineer Ted Skopinski co-authored a NASA technical note on determining azimuth angle at burnout, in plain English is the problem of working out which way a spacecraft needs to be pointing when its engines cut off
