Here's an unusual one. After a cyclist was hit by a car in Kāpiti at 1:40am this morning, a man has been charged with attempted murder.
The cyclist suffered a broken leg and other injuries.

Discovered my American whaler ancestor had children with a Maori woman. He was based at Kapiti.1835-1842. Her name was Nani, their son Tamati. There was a daughter too. Their descendants will carry the blue eye gene. I don't know what happened to them. I would like to find descendants of this whanau and share stories.

There’ll be hundreds if not thousands of #aurora #photos posted from this event. Here’s mine. I never expected I would see an aurora on the #Kāpiti Coast, #NZ because of all the lights to south, including Wellington. This is from rural Te Horo. There looked to be a bit of brightening to the SSE. Held my iPhone 14 Pro Max on top of a fence post, for a 3 second exposure, and there was the aurora colour. This is cropped and lightly edited. 🙂
