    My Thoughts

When my brother GC and I heard that Kane Parsons (Kane Pixels) was getting to make a Backrooms movie.

That would be distributed by A24 to movie theaters / the cinema.

We knew that we would probably watch it.

Because we follow his YouTube channel, and we have seen most of his short films about The Backrooms.

    https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVAh-MgDVqvDUEq6qDXqORBioE4Yhol_z

As well as various other people’s unique takes on The Backrooms with their own short films on YouTube.

So we wanted to go out and support a YouTuber making his first major movie.

I did not realize how young he was until I heard it on the news.

Congratulations, young man, for achieving so much, and I look forward to your future projects.

This movie is not for everyone. Do not watch it when you are tired and distracted, et cetera.

Watch it when you are in the mood for a slower-paced indie movie with a liminal space.

I watched this on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the Regal movie theater in the city of L.

With my brother GC, my brother CC, my brother KDC, and my sister-in-law KC.

Unfortunately, this movie did not stick to his usual formula for The Backrooms.

Which is first-person, found footage, and an exploration of the liminal space known as The Backrooms.

I wish that would have been the main focus of this movie.

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve had good performances.

I hope to see Renate Reinsve in another movie or TV show in the future.

But I wish that they had spent more time exploring The Backrooms.

I also wish that we would have seen more unique areas in The Backrooms.

I also wish that a certain entity had either stayed in the shadows or that it did not look as goofy.

My brother GC and I did not like this movie as much as we had expected.

Because it was slower than expected and did not follow The Backrooms formulas as much as expected.

It was not bad, and I do want to watch it again when it is available at home.

Because I think that this might be a movie that I will like better on the second viewing.

Because when I left the movie theater / cinema, I was not exactly sure how I felt about this movie.

So I need to see it again.

Under more comfortable conditions, like at home when I am in the mood for this type of movie.

The rest of my family who watched it with me, besides my brother GC, did not like this movie.

But KDC and KC have disliked almost every movie that I have watched with them so far, so this is nothing new. :D

I would still recommend this movie to people who want to watch a movie like this.

    I would rate it a 3.5 out of 5.

    The end,

    • John Jr

  8. Opinion:

#BACKROOMS the YouTube series is more interesting and scarier and more mind-twisting than the new A24 movie.

I think if they'd just taken the whole series of BACKROOMS YouTube shorts, stitched 'em together as a 2-hr-plus (if that) film, no edits, just one after the other, it'd do as well in cinemas.

The "screenplay" in the new movie often feels very "studio execs sez we need to hire a hip screenwriter"-ish, and not Kane Pixels-ish.

  13. I don't entirely trust #KanePixels of #Backrooms fame. Might be looking at another Notch from Minecraft situation.

  19. The Backrooms trailer combines creepypasta dread and A24 prestige horror

Against all odds, A24’s adaptation of The Backrooms actually looks like a proper elevated horror movie. Hell, it’s…

  20. Z internetowej legendy na wielki ekran. Słynna creepypasta „Backrooms” doczekała się filmu

Żółte tapety, bzyczenie starych jarzeniówek i nieskończony labirynt pustych biur. Jeden z największych fenomenów internetowych ostatnich lat wkracza do kin.

Film „Backrooms.

Społeczność na Reddicie i TikToku rozbudowała ten fundament w gigantyczne uniwersum, tworząc kolejne „poziomy” labiryntu, klasyfikacje zagrożeń i fikcyjne raporty badawcze.

    Z YouTube’a do Hollywood

Decyzja studia, by powierzyć wysokobudżetowy projekt młodemu twórcy oryginału, to rzadkość w branży filmowej. Zapowiada to produkcję, która zachowa klaustrofobiczny i paranoiczny klimat izolacji znany z sieci.

    O czym opowie film?

Choć internetowe nagrania to głównie zapiski z perspektywy pierwszej osoby (found footage) i ucieczka przed niezidentyfikowanymi bytami, kinowy film zaoferuje pełnoprawną narrację z potężną obsadą.

Obsadę uzupełniają Lukita Maxwell („Terapia bez trzymanki”) i Finn Bennett („Detektyw”).

Za polską dystrybucję odpowiada Monolith Films. Premiera kinowa zaplanowana jest na 5 czerwca 2026 roku.

Cyfrowy znak wodny w walce z fake newsami. Sony wdraża sprzętowy certyfikat autentyczności w nowych kamerach
