Terremoto sacude Hawái y activa monitoreo sísmico
Los sistemas de monitoreo sísmico continuaron activos para emitir información preventiva ante cualquier réplica o modificación en las condiciones geológicas del área afectada.

El terremoto de magnitud 6.0 registrado frente a la Isla de Hawái activó protocolos de monitoreo sísmico y seguimiento preventivo durante la madrugada de este sábado, luego de que el movimiento telúrico fuera percibido en distintas zonas del archipiélago estadounidense. El informe preliminar confirmó que el epicentro se localizó a 13 kilómetros al sur de Honaunau-Napoopoo, con una profundidad estimada de 22 kilómetros y actividad tectónica relevante en la región del Pacífico.
El reporte técnico indicó que el movimiento ocurrió a las 07:46 horas del sábado 23 de mayo, tiempo universal coordinado, equivalente a las 21:46 horas del viernes en la zona cercana al epicentro (01:46 horas tiempo del centro de México). Autoridades de monitoreo sísmico señalaron que el fenómeno también fue percibido en ciudades como Kailua-Kona, Hilo y Honolulu, donde habitantes reportaron vibraciones de diversa intensidad.
Los datos preliminares establecieron que el sismo ocurrió en coordenadas 19.341 grados norte y 155.845 grados oeste, dentro de una de las áreas volcánicas y sísmicas más activas del planeta. Especialistas confirmaron que el evento fue detectado por al menos 99 estaciones de monitoreo, con un margen reducido de error horizontal y vertical en la localización del epicentro.
Activan vigilancia sísmica
El monitoreo técnico permitió precisar que la estación sísmica más cercana se ubicó a 19 kilómetros del epicentro y registró un ajuste estadístico con un error cuadrático medio de apenas 0.16 segundos. El análisis geofísico también indicó un máximo gap azimutal de 178 grados, parámetro utilizado para evaluar la distribución de estaciones de detección alrededor del fenómeno.
Las autoridades locales mantuvieron vigilancia permanente sobre posibles réplicas, aunque hasta el cierre del reporte no existían alertas de tsunami ni reportes oficiales de daños estructurales mayores. Equipos de emergencia y protección civil revisaron zonas cercanas a comunidades costeras y rutas de evacuación en distintos puntos de la Isla de Hawái. –sn–

I rarely seek things to photograph.
As I go about my daily life, sometimes a muse grabs me by the collar, and demands and commands that I take a shot of the thing before me. I obey meekly.
This is from last week, outside The Great American Storage in Kailua-Kona.
The store owner, a smoking hot Caucasian woman with tattoos, came out and told me to get off the sidewalk. When I politely refused, she threatened to call the cops on me. I smiled, and remained on the public sidewalk ( the keyword being "public" ).A few minutes later, she came back and threatened to put curses on me. I was not fazed.
Then, she threatened to call a bunch of Hindu deities on me ( "Kali", "Shiva", etc ).I have never had both legal and spiritual authorities called on me, on the same day. 😆
I was bemusedly reminded of a passage from Shakespeare's, "Tempest"."I can summon the spirits!"
"So can I. But will they come when you summon them?"
This lady seemed to be under the impression that the deities were guard dogs on her leash, that she could sic on me, to violate my right to be on the sidewalk. 😆
