I'm debating turning my #GLguitars Fallout #shortscale #bassguitar into a #PiccoloBass. Tuned as:
B1 - .024
E2 - .036
A2 - .046
D3 - .060
G3 - .080

The tension would likely be closer to that of a longscale but, it'd still be one octave up with thinner strings. With #DRstrings, Neons, the bottom two would be roundcore bass while the rest hexcore guitar strings.

With a #Kahler *vibrato* bridge / whammy bar, it'd certainly be a unique, odd in-between instrument.

@collin Years ago, I put a #Kahler on my Jag because of the rickety bridge and my not knowing it was made for flatwound 13s.

Too many, and not enough beer can shims.

I am reasonably sure it works, and it was easy to install.
The G string still goes sharp when I use the bar, and if it's not moving at the nut, so it must be the bridge. :(
I've ordered a $30 Wilkinson one. I hope it's not false economy. I'm quite happy with a similar one that I have on a strat.

Trying a thing to keep an alien wrench handy near string lock. Couple of neodymium magnets on the backs of two tuning keys.
Now I'll be ready to tune up or down, or replace a string, in a jam situation, if that ever happens.
