Kaby Lake #iGPU #Vergleich zwischen Windows 7 (links) und Windows 10 (rechts). #OpenGL 4.6 wurde am 31. Juli 2017 veröffentlicht und wird von #KabyLake unterstüzt. Unter #Windows7 7 bekommt man leider nur die Vorvorgängerversion 4.4 vom 22. Juli 2013. Warum das so war bleibt unklar.

Es geht um ein Lenovo ThinkPad T470, dass ich schon länger hab, bis ich merkte, dass Lenovo für das #T470 auch ein Windows 7 #Downgrade angeboten hat. Lenovos Treiber funktionieren einwandfrei. Nur der Grafiktreiber für die #KabyLake #iGPU ist eine Herausforderung. Mit einer dedizierten Grafikkarte von nVidia oder AMD wäre das natürlich ganz anders. Mit der Umleitung auf den Abschnitt [iSKLD_w7] läuft die Installation durch, der ist aber für Skylake gedacht und ist nicht identisch mit [iKBLD_w7]

Die beiden #Treiber vom 23. Sept. 2016 gibt es aktuell immer noch als Windows #Update cab von Microsoft:

Kann man mit #WinRAR öffnen und sich die igdlh64.inf anschauen. Es sind 2 verschiedene Treiber, sie unterscheiden sich aber nur marginal und enthalten alle Einträge für Windows 7 8 8.1 und 10 unter #Skylake und #kabylake sind jedoch nicht völlig fehlerfrei. Weiters gibt es einen späteren Treiber von ASRock Version 21.20.16.4565 vom 19.01.2017 https://download.asrock.com/Drivers/Intel/VGA/VGA(v4565).zip Dieser Treiber ist deutlich umfangreicher als alle anderen, er besteht aus 2 Teilen. Man kann #ChatGpt leicht aus dem Tritt bringen: zu #SkyLake gehört #SunrisePoint und zu #KabyLake gehört ??? Man sollte kritisch nach Details fragen oder Testfragen stellen. Trotzdem ist das eine echte Hilfe, weil es das gesamte Netz abfragen und kurz zusammengefasst präsentieren kann. Ich habe ausgiebig nach aktuellen Treibern gedrängt, aber Lenovo scheint hier schon ganz vorne an der Spitze zu stehen. Nur den Grafiktreiber habe ich direkt von Intel. Der ist einen Tick aktueller als bei #Lenovo

Vielleicht ist das der Grund, dass jetzt #Windows7 hinten runter fällt - schade.

Zurück zu #KabyLake ich habe das mit #perplexityai und #ChatGpt diskutiert. Bei ersterem stößt man leider schnell an die Grenzen und dreht sich dann im Kreis. Mit ChatGpt (Basismodell) kann man erstaunlich tief in das Problem eindringen, aber es ist beileibe nicht alles richtig, was das Ding erzählt. Man muss hinschauen!

Zur Erinnerung: #KabyLake ( 7th Gen ) stellt einen ziemlichen Knackpunkt dar, es ist eine der #Mindestvoraussetzungen für Windows 11. Gleichzeitig wird #Windows7 nicht mehr unterstützt. Das liegt aber nicht daran, dass es keinen #Grafiktreiber mehr gibt: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18799/intel-graphics-driver-for-windows-15-45.html Man muss aber in der inf Datei die HD Graphics 620 manuell hinzufügen. I have a Kaby Lake CPU computer I just upgraded from Xubuntu 20.04 to 22.04, as 20.04 has gone end of life
.
Almost everything works fine except VAAPI hardware video decoding - but vlc and mpv video players do play fine with hardware decoding fine.

Parole, totem (gstreamer based) and browser don't work with hardware decoding.

Not a deal breaker but annoying as this stuff should be all sorted out, and the previous version worked fine.

I've tried a bunch of the suggested fixes of installing/uninstalling intel-media-va-driver-non-free and gstreamer1.0-vaapi
setting LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME etc - no dice.
