What did you listen to this week?

Every weekend I look back at the preceding week in Kpop and pick out a music video or performance that I have particularly liked. This week I have chosen Odd Youth -- can't go back -- Performance Video.
Before I listened to the song, I read that producers Sweetune had "updated their sound", so I felt anxious about what I was going to hear. My worries were groundless, as what I hear is a melodically strong and delightfully memorable pop song.
I chose this performance video because I like seeing the choreography. In addition, the combination of the members' various white and blue outfits in the blue setting delighted me.

CPop and cDramas are a thing, but different from their Korean counterparts even if some of the cDrama Idol actors got their start with the KPop system.
Cdramas have an astonishing amount of original songs, written specifically for the dramas and performed by real vocalists, including some of China’s most popular singers. Seeing and hearing favourite OSTs (original soundtrack songs) performed by leading vocalists at packed arena concerts is definitely a thing, and these often get amplified on YouTube and other platforms.
Many, but not all, are ballads. Rap and alternative music are definitely included.
One OST that’s been running through my head recently is *Bow one’s head* 《俯首》sung by Wuyin Jw from the cDrama *The Shadow Sovereign* — a drama that seems to be among the most talked about shorter court romance period cdrama of this year, and edges into what will be long format length under the new short drama regulatory framework coming into effect this fall.
*The Shadow Sovereign* cDrama stars the lovely Snow Kong Xue Er and Li Hong Yi, known respectively for *Pursuit of Jade* and *Blood of Youth*, as the romantic leads. Snow Kong started in the KPop development pipe and seems to be struggling to get main roles despite several supporting roles where she’s given compelling and nuanced performances of diverse characters. Li Hongyi is well known from the hit wuxia *Blood of Youth* but hasn’t had many roles since. Both show they deserve more main lead roles in long format S-tier dramas.
Originally produced for and released by Bilibili in China, the drama has been licensed and picked up by several platforms. Sen TV English Channel on YouTube and FB have it (free with ads but poor quality subtitles). Streamers Rakuten Viki and iQIYI have just started releasing episodes this week (better subtitles).
