before I go to bed for the night, one last plea.

my spouse and I are both queer disabled (Jewish and Jew-in-progress) and living in Los Angeles, one of the most expensive cities to live in in the first place. neither of us can work.

on top of our usual brokeness? we are going to have a lot of expenses incurred by top surgery, such as getting easy food that I will be able to eat, especially for the days where I'm in the hospital—my hysterectomy and top surgery are combined for a general yeet-it-all; due to medical complications, my surgery will not be outpatient and I will be in the hospital between three to five days, depending upon how long I end up needing opioid pain medication and until pain can be managed just with ibuprofen, as well as mobility limitations. there's just so much that will become more difficult and cost money we don't currently have.

to be up-front and transparent, I currently have less than $90 in my bank account, spouse has even less, and most of which is already earmarked for bills next month. every time I think I'm getting a little in my bank account more happens; I recently needed to replace my sleeping bag (which helps me sleep, rather than being needed for cold or anything). we have been living on mutual aid for a while now and while all y'all always come through, it's been rough recently.

please help us in any way you can, please share, even the smallest gifts make a huge difference for us overall.

disappointed in the new Trope Trainer that it doesn't seem to suuport #Ashkenazi pronunciations at all. even though I have set it as my preference it always defaults to modern mainstream pronunciation which is basically #Sephardi.

I broke my no contact rule with my grandparents to go pick up a copy of the ancient Trope Trainer software originally purchased for my b'nei mitzvah, twenty-one years ago. it's originally Windows XP software and I'm not particularly techie as for getting it to run on my Windows 10 laptop. but I do have a copy of it, and if I can make it work that'll be a miracle from Hashem.

@jsadow I know where the Jewish population has sort of landed on mastodon and I’ve found a lot of my friends from #jwitter through #mazeldon. But I can’t find most people on hive, the other social network.

While the tone of interactions on Mastodon have been polite, it's exhausting and somewhat dead. Every interaction has to be explicitly hunted down.

I miss passively jumping on a social and have exchanges served up, with an option to interact.

Here 90% of what I see is a series of exchanges about 10 comments down with no context.

My name is Jeremy (obviously).

I am a #Jewish man in his 30s lucky enough to have found his bashert, who is exploring both his own #Judaism and Jewish #philosophy. I like #SciFi, #Fantasy, #boardgames, #videogames, and #mythology. I have #chronicpain and have been #disabled.

I came to #Mazeldon from #Jwitter for obvious reasons.

Because of the nature of who I am, I am unlikely to discuss anything directly important to my life. I value #pluralism, honesty, and credibility.

The funny thing is, just before The whole Twitter collapse, I started making a @[email protected] account for #Jwitter reasons. But who will it serve if there is no Jwitter left to watch over?

#Introduction I suffer from #insomnia so I’m often online overnight. I’m a blue dot in a red state & will look for #NC & #NCpol folks to connect with. I’m a #BreastCancer survivor (#BCSM), a wife, mom to 3 great boys. In our house we have lots of #Neurodiversity #ADHD #Autism #ChronicIllness #JuvenilleArthritis so #Spoonie folks may recognize me from elsewhere too. I’m a fan of #Maddow, #Outlander, #StarTrek, #DS9. I’m a #Foodie. Love to cook and bake. I’m hoping #Jwitter will migrate here.
