I might be a bit of a Ubiquiti fanboy. Their gear usually #JustWorks, so when they started selling NAS boxes I assumed I needed one in my life. (I mean, I really didn't. I have gobs of actual servers for file storage.)
TL;DR: I didn't. And I actively dislike it. Like a lot.
The UNAS-2 is extremely limited. I knew that going in. It's a file box and little else: no Docker, no app ecosystem, none of the flexibility you'd get from a Synology. Fine. What I didn't sign up for:
→ The iPhone backup is flaky and just… stopped, throwing "UniFi Endpoint and UNAS Not on the Same Network." They are, provably, on the same network. Nothing changed.
→ To reach it from my phone I have to use the UniFi Endpoint app. The one that also wants to babysit my door cameras?!
→ Time Machine backups are technically possible, after a fight. I haven't won that fight. I gave up.
→ And I swear the thing bumps itself off the network on the regular.
Sigh. At least it has a cute screen.

How is there not a simple #pwsh command to sync the #intune management extension on a windows box?
Another case of #Microsoft making at best 75% of a full featured product

I thought I did this one last year, but it turned out I didn't :mastomoji:. So this year, let me ensure I'm participating! Because it's the month of #libreoffice!
Why do I love it? Because it meets all my office needs, is #free, #opensource, and #privacy friendly. I'm using it for private use and work, and despite my colleagues using MS Office I never had issues.
Oh, and because my grandpa took years before he even realised he didn't use MS Office. Because it #justworks and is so #easy to use.

So if you wanna hire someone who’s good on a team, is mission oriented, and is used to having a high bar. Hire someone who worked at Justworks. Engineering, operations, product, customer service (incredibly high-quality customer service) they’re all good.
If you see Justworks on their resume, give them a second look.

#JustWorks #TwiceAsAmazing

@gernot I was trying AirPlay Receiver, seems like it neither works with hotspot over the air, or hotspot over cable.
Might work with both devices on Wifi, but that's not an option on this train, it's crap for internet access.
Fell back to not charging the phone. Maybe the annoying loud people that made me want music will get off before the phone battery dies :)
Likely happening because I am on an older macOS, despite the generic "connection failed" message from AirPlay.

Me: “oh cool, should be faster than iCloud, let me give it a try”
Button pressed: <estimated time 7 hours>Now I need to reset my Phone and start over to cancel this. #justworks

I'm really quite upset that in 2024, I “had to”* create this simple #php server to get pictures from a test-#android I have to my #mac.
https://gist.github.com/gnyman/b5219f1b51a640dce08bcc1d5f3712bd
- no of course I didn't “have to”, there are ways and software but I don't want to install something or transfer it via a server on the other side of the world to get it 30 cm

Anyone out there doing Go (or polyglot with Go) monorepos?
I am struggling with single module vs multi module.
Single go.mod #justworks but doesn't work if your mono repo grows > 512MB. go.work + multimod breaks with new modules and with pushing multiple changes.
Both are horrible to work with with Docker.

I may have called #Siri some names because of this 👀

Fore those on #macOS for whom "move focus to next window" does not work (there are *many* threads out there): Go to "System Preferences" -> "Keyboard" -> "Shortcuts" -> "Keyboard" and hold the option key whilst left-clicking the shortcut, then re-enter Command+`.
Suddenly it woks.
Apple. Because it #JustWorks.
