I finished 밸런스 게임 지옥 by 김종일, a thriller based on the “balance game” ( the equivalent of “Would you rather”), except here it’s not just about saying what you would rather do, but actually do it.
It was suspenseful all along, but the story also becomes much more meaningful as we near the end. I really enjoyed reading it!

#WhatchaReading ? I finally, finally #JustFinished Mortal Follies, a book much longer and twee-er than it needs to be, though the sticking point for me, unlike most critics, was not the omniscient narrator Puck but the absolutely unnecessary and unbearable Miss Bickle. Cut her completely out and you'd be left with quite an interesting story. I did enjoy the dark and brooding heroine.

Interesting concept but not worth the emotional/anxiety expense. The ending fell flat.

How have I not read this book already?! I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. It went far beyond the typical Hollywood love affairs and paparazzi I expected. There were recurring themes of loss, disenfranchised grief, and assisted death, plus interracial and LGBTQ relationships despite spanning a few decades that weren’t notable for acceptance. The author really drew me in and compelled me to keep reading. I *may* have teared up a bit at the end. Very well done.
