Comparing Just Dance (3) and Dance Central (2) today. Dance Central is MUCH more friendly for beginners imo. Beginning with the option to practice moves separately with counting in to being able to slow down to details like sorting by difficulty. When I first opened Just Dance a while ago, I was pretty baffled all of that was missing. Then again, it's called "just dance", not "learn dancing".

Every weekend I look back at the preceding week in Kpop and pick out a music video or performance that I have particularly liked. This week I have chosen RESCENE – Runaway -- Just Dance -- Genie .
One of the things I love about Kpop is its sheer abundance. Not only do lots of groups release lots of music with a frequency that makes the western pop industry look miserly, but most releases will have, on account of music show performances, dance practice videos , and so on, a multiplicity of versions.
So after my last week's posting of the RESCENE -- Runaway MV as #KpopOfTheWeek and midweek postings of music show stages, I come now to this wonderful video in which the simplicity of set and styling allow the group to engage us to the full through their dancing.
The original MV was one that I enjoyed because of its dream like blend of school story and fantasy. Yet I also like this performance video for the reason that I so often enjoy videos of this type; they allow me to pull away from the specifics of narrative and concept and be enchanted instead by the sight and sound of performance.
The outfits facilitate this enchantment, and I am relieved that this video shows the girls not to be under the heel of the #BigClumpyBoot lobby!

1. After being sick for a week, I seem to have turned a corner.
2. I was well enough to keep my Friday night online #JustDance date and to write a book review.
3. A friend's birthday gift I planned with some other folks worked out much better than I feared it would. I didn't get to be there because of the sickness but they took some great pics for me.

As I'm sure you've all noticed, I am currently in a bit of an Animal Crossing mood. So I combined #JustDance with #AnimalCrossing. It would look somewhat similar to this. I definitely dig the style of these JD characters hahaha.

It took like 2 years until I hurt myself in VR. Took 10 minutes in Just Dance oops. Can I have a tutorial mode please 😂
Also "Hey Boy Hey Girl" by The Chemical Brothers is in JD3, I accidentally selected it and thought my ears were tricking me, it's sampled super often in Techno, still I had no idea where that sample came from, never heard the song before. I guess a) building a bridge between the festival and the game and b) discovering new songs through the game both worked!

I survived another round of Everything Is On Sale fest buying only one game (and I even already played it!). Instead, I invested in some dancing inspiration / training / workout! As a big fan of rhythm games, this was long overdue, and now I finally got a good deal for a used Xbox 360 (S, hopefully with fixed thermal issues) with a Kinect and controller and I also found someone who was willing to sell the game for a reasonable price. Now to find a place in my living room for it.

Still thinking about Just Dance. There are two things that bug me. One is the current subscription model and the other is that tracking is done with controllers or a phone in the current gen. Looks like a good option might be to get a used Xbox 360, a Kinect and some games. I'd not be able to extend them (except "fan-made games" which I know nothing about) but they'd be mine forever. It's not expensive either, I just wonder where to put another console...
