There is a huge misunderstanding about "jus soli", or birthright citizenship, in Europe. To be clear: There are ZERO European countries with #JusSoli (unlike e.g. countries in the Americas where anyone born on US soil can become a citizen). Of course, everyone who is a legal resident for X years can gain citizenship, and there may be special dispensations for children. But I have shocked so many people (from FR & UK) when I tell them that my child born in Switzerland can't get a Swiss passport.
