This is such a weird twisty thing. Like why _not_ tell the jury in the first place that you consider these actions potentially to be terrorism? Why not let them decide for themselves if it is or isn't? Why keep that part secret?

But the result is one of the greatest protections against injustice. Yet after hundreds of years, the Injustice Secretary #DavidLammy wants to severely restrict juries.

What we can verify is that these conversations are real: proposals linked to David Lammy would reduce the number of jury trials to deal with the court backlog. Labour’s EU “reset” talk includes dynamic alignment in certain areas. The government is also pushing a digital ID scheme framed around access to services, and MPs are already discussing how digital ID could be used for unified patient record access.
My take: don’t let any of this become “normal” without scrutiny. Ask what problem it solves, what powers it creates, what mission creep looks like, and what the opt out actually means in practice.
