I'm calling BS on this idea.Our criminal justice system is so petrified of the "appearance" of political favoritism that it is actively engaged in political favoritism.
The notion of "judicial flexibility" is a disguise for fear of doing the right thing in the face of political pressure.
When you don't delay sentencing after a jury conviction solely because you wish to give the convicted felon a "fair" chance to win an election,
THAT IS NAKED FAVORITISM AND PUTTING A FELON ABOVE THE LAW.
Judges must stop normalizing criminality in the name of political fairness.
