#nixos is so cool. I am currently writing my own #homeManager module for #jrnl because I want to try it out, but also sync it (with #syncthing) and ensure that calls to the jrnl binary are not added to my #atuin driven history. I can just write that module and have it on all my hosts easily. How awesome is that?

Maar één paar dingetjes stonden me tegen.
Als ik iets wou aanpassen dan was dat […]

I've had two things on my personal todo list lately: journaling more (thanks for the reminder, @pluralistic) and using the command line more. As it turns out, there's a tool called #jrnl that lets me do both.
Jrnl is a command like journaling tool that supports encryption, templates, tags, and more. Looks promising, and has proven decent to use so far!

Is ‘jnrl’ the Best Journaling App for the Command Line?
Want to log your thoughts and memories without leaving the command line? A reader recently mailed in to tell me about an app called jrnl, a journaling app with a difference: it’s designed to be used from a terminal, not a web browser or mobile app. Now, journaling isn’t for everyone (I don’t keep a journal myself) but you can use this app as a general purpose notebook or jotter to log your thoughts, ideas, musings, experiments, and so on in. If I’d known about jrnl when writing my list of command line apps for Ubuntu I dare say I’d :sys_more_orange:

#jrnl is a simple journaling program for the #terminal.
Using jrnl is as simple as running jrnl with the entry you want to add. Entries can be written directly from the shell like in "jrnl yesterday: Found a bug. Saw a cool bug." which creates an entry for yesterday titled Found a bug. jrnl supports #encryption, multiple journals, tags, and using external text editors for journal composition.
