I was asked my the Communications team at work to participate in African World Heritage Day on Tuesday. I'll share my post here on the day but thought some of the photos I sent were actually quite lovely.

This one is of Johannesburg in spring when the jacaranda is blooming. If I recall correctly, I took it through my rose-tinted sunglasses.

In a rather lovely cosmic coincidence, degrowth researchers launch a manifesto 'Housing (for) a post-growth world' this week. Their proposals are echoed in my novel Well Housed where housing is a city resource distributed by the Housing Office.

I got used to pulling my news in realtime. Would search for the #Jozi #gunshots #protests hashtag. To give me a sense of control, just how bad were things. Scroll through different sources. Judge what valid. Who were the different voices (with their different agendas). The imaginary worked. I bought into it. Its now broken, but not better. And as i wonder what’s happening in Bree street. Its going to take a while getting used to the absence of a town square.
