Gratisrollenspielbeitrag: Firelights
Seit 2023 versuche ich auch zum Gratisrollenspieltag-Paket etwas beizutragen. Begonnen mit Honeysworn, was ein Hack von Honey Heist gekreuzt mit Ironsworn ist. In 2024 war es die überarbeitete Version von Der Ewige Wald, welcher um Schnellstart-Regeln für Cairn erweitert wurde. Dieses Jahr (15.03. – 22.03.2025) ist im GRT-Paket das Solo- und Coop-Rollenspiel Firelights dabei!
Worum geht es bei Firelights?
In Firelights spielt ihr ein letztes Feuerkind. Eure Art ist verantwortlich die Leuchtfeuer brennen zu lassen und die Toten durch den Schleier zu führen. Aber vor dir waren die Feuerkinder verschwunden und die alten Leuchtfeuer sind erloschen, große Übel (riesenhafte Schattenwesen) plagen das Land und die leblosen Kreaturen wandern durch die Regionen ohne Führung durch den Schleier.
Als Inspiration für Firelights galten Metroidvania-Spiele wie z.B. Hollow Knight aber auch Ori and the Blind Forest, Princess Mononoke und vom Spieldesign kam die Inspiration von Spielen wie Ironsworn und Apocalypse World.
Was brauche ich für Firelights?
Die Kernmechanik im Spiel benötigt Karten, daher brauch ihr neben zwei sechsseitigen Würfeln auch ein Standard-Kartenspiel mit 52 Karten. Für deine Notizen bietet sich ein Notizbuch oder anderes Medium für dein Reisetagebuch an. Ein Spielstein für deine Figur, um sie auf der Weltkarte zu repräsentieren, ist auch hilfreich.
Wie spielt sich Firelights?
Ein großer Aspekt des Spiels ist die Erkundung der Welt. Dafür deckst du am Anfang eine Erzählkarte von deinem Standard-Kartenspiel auf und beginnst damit die Weltkarte. Dein Ziel ist die sechs Leuchtfeuer zu entfachen, die sich auf den Bildkarten (Bube, Dame, König) befinden. Neue Regionen entdeckst du als Teil der Aktion „Eine Region entdecken“. Es gibt noch weitere Aktionen wie z.B. um gegen Übel zu kämpfen, nach Schätzen zu suchen, Informationen zu kaufen, Gefahren zu trotzen oder entrinnen oder eine Antwort vom Orakel zu erhalten, wenn du eine Antwort auf eine Ja-/Nein-Frage benötigst.
Aktionen führst du aus, in dem du zwei Karten aufdeckst und dann deinen W6-Aktionswürfel würfelst. Jede Aktion hat dabei eine Leiteigenschaft deiner Figur, welches Kraftvoll, Geduldig oder Schnell sein kann. Wenn der Wert deines Würfels + Eigenschaft höher als beide Karten ist, ist das Ergebnis Licht. Wenn nur eine Karte übertroffen wurde, ist es Schatten. Ansonsten ist das Ergebnis Finsternis.
Licht, Schatten und Finsternis stellt einen vollen Erfolg, einen Teilerfolg (Erfolg mit Komplikation) und einen Fehlschlag dar. Falls du Inspirationen brauchst, gibt es neben dem Orakel auch eine Inspirationstabelle für Regionen, Themen, Ereignisse und Begegnungen.
Da das Spiel auf einem Flyer vom Autor, René-Pier Deshaies, veröffentlicht wurde, ist die Beschreibung der Aktionen sehr kurz. Auch wie die Weltkarte erweitert wird, ist sehr kurz gehalten. In dieser Übersetzung gibt es daher weitere Ausführungen, um das Spiel ausführlicher zu erklären. Außerdem gibt es zusätzliche Hilfestellungen, wie die Übel des Landes aktiver in deine Geschichte eingebunden werden können und eine aktive Bedrohungen darstellen.
Das kooperative Spiel ist nicht direkt beschrieben von René-Pier Deshaies, aber es gibt mehrere Diskussionen mit ihm auf Itch und Reddit, welches von ihm und andere Ideen gibt, wie ein kooperatives Spiel stattfinden könnte. Im Kern geht es dabei um die Frage, wie das Spiel angepasst werden muss. Ob es mehrere Kartenstapel gibt, wie stark die Übel sein sollten etc. Diese Ideen sind in der deutschen Version von Firelights abgedruckt und empfehlen ein Spiel für 2-3 Personen.

Today in my game hibernation, I tried The Others by Gustavo Coelho. The first round, I messed up the rules a bit but I like the entity I came up with (invisible, sharp claws, slowly turning humanoid).
The second round, I ended up with a story about sister wives in a cult who slowly all succumb to a horde of shapeshifting ogres.
Very fascinating journaling game!

I' just read "The Ink that Bleeds" by @PaulCzege about a play style for journaling games that invites greater participation from your subconscious.

I think I've finally settled on this as the interface for my #SoloRPG toolkit.
It's got its own website now, which is nice. Should work in all browsers, needs JavaScript enabled (because, I mean, do you want to send a web request every time you need to roll a die?)
Obviously you could use this for "non-solo" #TTRPG as well, but it sort of came out of my need for something compact that I can have on my phone or laptop while I'm out and about and doing #journalinggame s

Played another scenario of @trollishdelver English Eerie. I had missed a rule and wanted to play it again.
- I played the scenario "Cuckoo" as 'Sandy Cooke, TV presenter.
- I played with more 'Spirit' tokens (vs. Resolution tokens)
- Label the scenario printout with the card suits helps a lot.
- Taking notes of the 2ndary characters details helped me to remember them when playing.
