AVIF here we come... Just two days after a customer requesting AVIF file format on ochResponsiveImages, I have implemented it and am running it in test (also on my own website).
So although the jury is still out if this is a good time to switch to AVIF format it is good to know that with ochResponsiveImages you can do it with a click of the mouse :) -

So yesterday my eye caught a blog posted here on Mastodon that had an added link to the authors profile here on the fediverse. Cool!
Will be adding fediverse metatags to my #joomla ochOpenGraph plugin so we can also have full support for this in Joomla.Is there an overview of metatags specifically for the fediverse, or is there (currently) just one (fediverse:creator)?

Take 2.... well make that take 2000... One thing I learned from recording an instruction video for one of my #joomla extensions is that I'm doing way better behind the camera then in front of it #lol

Busy day today, doing some changes for a US customer (note to self: thank them abundantly :)), starting a project for a Hongkong based customer, testing new feature I build in yesterday for ochSubscriptions (maintainers of Fabrik will love this), and doing some household chores... as a widower also need to keep the personal 'business' a float...
How do you mix personal and business life?

So after yesterdays emergency #joomla security update, today planned time to pick up any pieces... Looking at what has changed, I do not expect any issues so will enjoy my coffee a little bit more today :)

Just did a small bugfix in #kunena, I love how welcoming this project is to 'outsiders' committing PR's: they look at the code and decide if they accept or not. Not all open source project I (try to) work with do this the same. Some look at the person instead of the code, or decide not to use the PR because 'I do not have an issue'...
It is sometimes hard to contribute to Open Source, but then I also know from experience that it is sometimes hard to be a maintainer.

Having worked on ochFoundation5 the last two weeks, my mind is 'bursting' with things I would love to add to it to make it even more feature complete. But I can only spend my time once.
I find it personally hard to stop improving when there is no direct need from customers to improve.At what point do you say it is good enough?
Do you recognize this? How do you handle it / do you have advice?

In the meantime been looking for a platform to provide these videos with: YouTube is a no-go, dove into PeerTube but was overwhelmed by the choice in platforms, and then I learned that Nextcloud (which I use myself) is the perfect platform for this. Now adding support for the <video> element to ochFitvids: one thing leads to another #Joomla #JoomlaDevelopment

Back to the challenge of dealing with a slow API that provides stock rates. fetching all stocks needed sometimes takes over 20 minutes. The supplier isn't going to fix their response times so we need to refactor on our end. Maybe split op the fetching to do them in parallel instead of sequential, I don't think that in the end this will make a huge difference... #joomla #JoomlaDevelopment #LifeOfaDeveloper

Goodmorning, so I made it back safe from the roof top. Just synced my custom Kunena template I'm running on my sites with the newly released Kunena 6.3.9 release. And while at it synced my Custom Joomla template to include changes made in Joomla 5.2.4

So if you don't hear from me on Monday... call 911 :)

So back to troubleshooting the server setup / php / mysql / etc...
I love troubleshooting, but today I learned that I only love it when I get it fixed :)
