Some small code improvements / new ideas for existing extensions planned here, nothing with priority so taking it easy today :)

So yesterday my eye caught a blog posted here on Mastodon that had an added link to the authors profile here on the fediverse. Cool!
Will be adding fediverse metatags to my #joomla ochOpenGraph plugin so we can also have full support for this in Joomla.

Is there an overview of metatags specifically for the fediverse, or is there (currently) just one (fediverse:creator)?

Busy day today, doing some changes for a US customer (note to self: thank them abundantly :)), starting a project for a Hongkong based customer, testing new feature I build in yesterday for ochSubscriptions (maintainers of Fabrik will love this), and doing some household chores... as a widower also need to keep the personal 'business' a float...

How do you mix personal and business life?

So after yesterdays emergency #joomla security update, today planned time to pick up any pieces... Looking at what has changed, I do not expect any issues so will enjoy my coffee a little bit more today :)

Going to push some extension updates in a minute, #Joomla is doing a new release (security) today and experience learns that most website maintainers take that opportunity to also update their extensions... Note sure if that is a good strategy, but it is what I see happening.

What do you think: good or not good updating your extensions while updating Joomla itself?

Prepping for tomorrows #joomla security release. No time to test as we don't know what changed in this release, so rolling up sleeves and be prepared when installing. What I heard this could be a big one (not in terms of changes, but in terms of exploits).
In the meantime working on some new ideas, and still sitting on the idea of doing short video's #procrastinating #nottokeenonthespotlight

Having worked on ochFoundation5 the last two weeks, my mind is 'bursting' with things I would love to add to it to make it even more feature complete. But I can only spend my time once.
I find it personally hard to stop improving when there is no direct need from customers to improve.

At what point do you say it is good enough?

Do you recognize this? How do you handle it / do you have advice?

Back to the challenge of dealing with a slow API that provides stock rates. fetching all stocks needed sometimes takes over 20 minutes. The supplier isn't going to fix their response times so we need to refactor on our end. Maybe split op the fetching to do them in parallel instead of sequential, I don't think that in the end this will make a huge difference... #joomla #JoomlaDevelopment #LifeOfaDeveloper
How do you deal with external services acting up?

Back after a roadtrip to visit some properties in France. Lot's of information and impressions to process. Alrhough this week is springbreak, will be doing some work to get my mind off things: that normally helps. So to-do list: here I come

Goodmorning, so I made it back safe from the roof top. Just synced my custom Kunena template I'm running on my sites with the newly released Kunena 6.3.9 release. And while at it synced my Custom Joomla template to include changes made in Joomla 5.2.4

Today mainly non-dev things on the agenda: newsletter (which is long overdue), and believe it or not, but I have to go up the roof of my house to implement a new feature: something to keep the 'noisy' pigeons away that are declaring their love for each other already at 5 AM in the morning waking up the kids that sleep under the roof. So if you don't hear from me on Monday... call 911 :)

So the customer has an issue on his production site, I restore that site to my dev environment to debug the issue at hand... working as expected #GoFigure
So back to troubleshooting the server setup / php / mysql / etc...
I love troubleshooting, but today I learned that I only love it when I get it fixed :)

So slow start here. Very pleased with #HomeAssistant monitoring my solar panels and shutting them down when the electricity price turns negative.
So today on the planning is helping the wonderful #Kunena team with their website, and some customers with styling of one of my extensions on their website.
Thinking about doing a release mailing for ochFoundation5 with a discount.

Final testing of major release for ochFoundation5, documentation already updated... Customer running tests in Yootheme template.
Flawless upgrade of all my (customer) Joomla5 sites many thanks to the #joomla comunity for making this again a seamless upgrade!

So back on ochFoundation5 my 'swiss-knive' plugin that helps site owners to add all sort of things to their content like accordions, tabs, alerts, badges, embedded pdfs, articles, etc. With a new major version on the horizon it is possible to refactor some things that might break the current version: but it also opens the doors to even more functionality.

What is your take on major releases and B/C breaking changes?

So with that done, it is time to get back to work on ochFoundation5. This is one of my most used plugins (by myself that is), and with the changes ahead it will serve even more use cases and render other plugins irrelevant... To be continued!
