There are songs about fleeting marketplace romances (Sunflowers), and going in search of your life’s purpose (Desert Rose). There are even more songs — about bad haircuts (West Coast Haircut) and the disappearance of the bees (Honey Bee). I loved the "anorak" scene, which was basically dressing down in the 80s when everyone else was dressing up. Their songwriting was a bit #JonathanRichman, a bit deliberately fragile but they still knew how to rock. The opening track on their debut LP "Ride" is massive and still sounds great.

I loved the "anorak" scene, which was basically dressing down in the 80s when everyone else was dressing up. Their songwriting was a bit #JonathanRichman, a bit deliberately fragile but they still knew how to rock. The opening track on their debut LP "Ride" is massive and still sounds great.
