Kiyomizu-dera & Heian-jingu

https://www.rovingsun.com/2025/12/06/kiyomizu-dera-and-the-heian-jingu/After waking up at the Courtyard, we headed over to Kiyomizu-dera to see the fall foliage & special viewing of the garden at Joju-in. We then had gyukatsu for lunch and headed over to Heian-jingu. We ended the day at Gion Tsujiri before walking back to the hotel via Nishiki Market.

Two weeks ago, we were crowded out at #Kiyomizudera but took great advice from a #Kyoto-ite to turn left instead towards #Jōjuin #成就院. It was sublimely peaceful and beautiful - no more than 5 visitors were present during the 45 minutes we chilled on their engawa. This #autumn season's Jōjuin opening ended on November 30th though and the next will be Spring 2023. Highly recommended! -

Two weeks ago, we were crowded out at #Kiyomizudera but took great advice from a #Kyoto-ite to turn left instead towards #Jōjuin #成就院. It was sublimely peaceful and beautiful - no more than 5 visitors were present during the 45 minutes we chilled on their engawa.
