  1. The release didn’t name the schools, but a #US official … said they include #Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology [ #MIT ] & #JohnsHopkins University.

…Sarah Spreitzer, VP at the American Council on #Education, which represents #college & #university presidents, raised concerns that the announcement suggests, without any evidence, that the #schools are engaged in wrongdoing.

    David no eligió participar.

    No pudo retirarse.

    No pudo dar consentimiento.

  4. 💁🏻‍♀️ TIL: ✍️🧠 A new study challenges the idea that people are born with a skilled dominant hand, showing instead that hand dominance develops through repeated practice.

Researchers at Johns Hopkins and UCLA found that when tasks are novel both hands perform equally well, and that hand preference comes first and skill follows, not the reverse.

  5. Dame Laura Knight

In 1926, Dame Laura Knight traveled to the USA where she gained access to the Johns Hopkins segregated wards, creating a series of sketches of patients + nurses. While in Baltimore, she befriended Pearl Johnson, an African American worker at the hospital. Johnson introduced Knight to the early American civil rights movement, bringing her to local lectures + concerts, prompting Knight to famously write that there was "a whole world of beauty" to explore in "Negro life" in America.

  7. You’re probably getting enough protein – just maybe not the right kind, experts warn

Protein seems to be everywhere these days for Americans. It’s in your shakes, it’s in your pancakes and popcorn. Heck, it’s even in your mac and chees…

  15. Happy Grad School Graduation anniversary to me. 🎓

Some years ago in Baltimore I finally put grad school in my rear-view mirror. I had worked 20+ part-time and 3 full-time jobs to get there. I treated myself to two ceremonies: one for Johns Hopkins and one for Peabody Conservatory.

An unexpected highlight was getting to meet James Van Allen, discoverer of Earth’s radiation belts. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by JHU that day so, in a way, he’s my classmate.

    🍾 Semper sint in flore!
