This week's #TuneTuesday theme is #GuitarsAndStrings. Lots of great songs to choose from, so I ended up listing the first five that came into my mind:
Johnny Watson: Johnny Guitar (1960)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAGMLKPhg5ADick Dale & the Del-Tones: King Of The Surf Guitar (1963)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQA0CJlfN3YDuane Eddy & the Rebelettes: (Dance With The) Guitar Man (1962)

"A Real Mother for Ya" by Johnny "Guitar" Watson was released in January 1977. While still on active duty I made the trek from San Clemente to Hollywood and the Troubadour to see Papa John Creech. Mr. Watson was the opening act. Just wow.

Johnny Guitar Watson - Giant
Once was a time when my three favourite artists were filed under W (Womack, WAR, Watson). Years later, I still find myself drawn toward the W section of a record shop first.
Johnny Guitar Watson always tried to adapt to whatever the current trend in black music was. By adapt, I mean he did his signature singing, scatting and clean Texas blues guitar playing largely unchanged, over the new-style backing. Sometimes this works really well; sometimes it doesn’t. It helps if you’re a fan, which I am.
This album tries to hit the jazz-blues-disco highs of his hit I Need It from a couple of years prior. Whilst it doesn’t achieve that, its still a decent album – mostly disco-orientated. Apart from an updated version of his early hit, Gangster Of Love and his cover of WAR’s Baby Face (She Said Do Do Do Do).

#JohnnyGuitarWatson #Disco #Funk #Soul #Blues #RhythmAndBlues

Před 90 lety (3. 2. 1935) se narodil pozoruhodný, charismatický bluesový a funkový kytarista, skladatel a zpěvák Johnny „Guitar“ Watson. Miloval ho Zappa. S Larrym Williamsem nahrál dodnes žádaný soulový materiál. Později hrál funk jako řemen.

"A Real Mother for Ya" by Johnny "Guitar" Watson was released in January 1977. Inadvertently got to see Watson perform in the 70's. I had gone to the Troubadour to see Papa John Creech and Johnny was the opening act. Both delivered.

“A Real Mother for Ya” was the hit single and title track off Johnny Guitar Watson’s 1977 album, on which he played most of the instruments himself. #johnnyguitarwatson #funk #soul #randb #vinyl #recordcollection

Het nieuwe album van F.F.F. is heel lekker, maar op single "On devient FFFou" is het loopje afkomstig van #JohnnyGuitarWatson's " A Real Mother For Ya". #FFF https://youtu.be/mA6xYZZYeTk?feature=shared
