🕯️A Christmas Carol 🕯️
Written in just 6 weeks, A Christmas Carol was first published on December 19, 1843, with the first edition sold out by Christmas Eve.
Dickens wrote that he “saw” his characters and that the Cratchits were “ever tugging at his coat sleeve, as if impatient for him to get back to his desk and continue the story of their lives”.
Well known caricaturist and illustrator John Leech produced the engravings that illustrated the original publication.
