Come on Journalist!!! See how she reframed & still asked the question? See how she was respectful? See how she kept it mute while he was talking??? See how she still got him to cleanly answer the very question he wanted to initially [avoid]? Masterclass!!! 👏🏾👏🏾

  7. RE: flipboard.social/@CultureDesk/

Update: @Variety interviewed John Davidson about this incident and he gave some deeper explanation of his condition and what happened. According to this conversation, this was not the only offensive word he shouted that evening, and he was assured by BAFTA that swearing would be edited out of the broadcast — yet there was a microphone in front of him in the auditorium. His team says he has reached out to the team behind “Sinners” in order to directly apologize to Michael B. Jordan, Delroy Lindo and production designer Hannah Beachler.

  8. Tourette syndrome is a deeply misunderstood condition. Rena Zito, an associate professor of sociology, writes for @TheConversationUS about coprolalia — the involuntary offensive speech tic that John Davidson displayed at the BAFTA Awards — and why the word he used doesn't necessarily mean he's racist. "It’s like my brain weaponizes my most polite intentions and turns them into the cruelest things," one interviewee told Zito.

  11. Why did the BBC broadcast John Davidson's racial slur at last night's BAFTA Awards when they are on a two-hour time delay, and a "free Palestine" plea was edited from one winner's speech? @Deadline tries to figure out what happened.
