Although it became a #bluesStandard, music critic #CharlesShaarMurray calls it "the greatest #pop song he ever wrote". 2. JOHN LEE HOOKER
It Serve You Right To Suffer
    2025 Worldwide reissue

An incredible Acoustic Sounds Series reissue of what very well may be might favorite blues album of all time.

I bought this about 6 months ago when I realized that my original U.S. pressing had had its last spin.
Couldn’t be more pleased to have such a stunning sounding replacement for it.

“Country Boy” is the greatest late-night blues tune in history; perfect for when you’re exhausted, waiting for the last few minutes of the day to tick away.

    “Sometime in travellin'
I travel when nights are blue
    Sometime my night
My night so dark and blue
    But I keep on travellin'
No place to lay my worried head”

    Man is that ever right.

JLH til the end of time.

#blues

  4. JOHN LEE HOOKER
    Burning Hell
    2024 Worldwide reissue

NOW we’re cooking with gas, baby!

JLH is the absolute fucking man. I have more albums by him than I do ANY other #blues artist, and I could listen to his shit ANY TIME, ANY DAY.

This reissue sounds ASTOUNDING; part of Craft Records’ killer Bluesville / Acoustic Sounds Series.

It literally sounds like John is in my study playing live.

This is my SECOND favorite JLH album behind It Serve You Right To Suffer, and I desperately needed a clean copy of this, as my original copy was getting pretty worn down and rough.
Couldn’t be more pleased to have found this.

  9. #YearPlaylist: 1948

It's a short one for a change, but sometimes those are the best.

Might as well call it CBGB because it's nothing but country, bluegrass, and various shades of blues.
