That's a nice surprising new one.
#Idexx, a vet software maker, emailed me an apology it's taking so long to get back to my application.
I don't have high hopes, as the application flow confused me, so I probably did a bad job at applying.
But, it's a lot better than just simply not saying anything for multiple weeks on end!

Please, stop making me sign up for your "job application handling system". Please, I beg of you.
Having to sign up for every possible job is really exhausting, going through the whole process dozens of times a day.
I don't even have the time to write a cover letter thanks to all the sign-up flows. I've completely lost what I wanted to apply for by the time I can confirm my account.

Why does every company want to "keep my CV on file"?
"So we can contact you if something suitable comes up"...

Dear recruiter/HR person,

If you message me on LinkedIn that you have a potential position for me, I expect that if I message back that I'm interested, you will contact me back again, with more details.
Say, you know, ehm... a "conversation" of sorts, just as you yourself asked/suggested?

Instead, you ghost. Just throw the message to as wide a net as possible, and ignore people actually responding...

Dear companies hiring people.
Here are a few things:
1. Don't just let your job opening "expire"
2. Contact _EVERY_ person that applied, even those that didn't make it
3. "If you didn't hear from us in 2 weeks" is _NOT_ useful, especially if your job opening expires (see 1)
4. A "Sorry you didn't make it" is bad, but it's better than nothing!
5. Try to be personal, people put a lot of effort in their applications, so don't just shove it aside.

I really, really, REALLY wish I could add negative search terms to my job alerts.
I explicitly do not want anything "AI" related, yet I keep getting them as "matching your CV"
