Corrupt judges handed over honest men to debt slavery, even for a kickback as small as the price of shoes. The miserable even prevented from covering self in dust.

He says that God made a provision for orphans by the way that we are wired: we have a natural tendency to felicitous concern for welfare of own children, naturally transferable to others. Plus promises of blessings to helpers and curses to rebellious (or those w/o mercy).

    Today some protect “order” by throwing cold water on this concern.
