Huh. Michaels has bought the remaining in-house brands from #JoAnn and plans to increase their fabric, sewing, and yarn departments.

Certainly a better outcome than other buyers could have been!

New #cricut Maker bundle today! It was the very last one in our local #joann and was only $125. Usually MUCH more expensive!

My old one is behind it, and kinda in pieces.

I was not expecting today to be new Cricut day, but my husband has been keeping an eye on the prices and asked about this one himself.

I'm VERY lucky to have such a husband, oh my actual god.

Just thrilled by this today.

Stopped into Joann Fabrics since they're shutting down and discounting everything. Grabbed some foam core boards and a few packs of fabric squares that are good for small projects (dice bags, pouches, that sort of stuff). Some of the fabric they had left was tempting but the line to get it cut was super long, I wouldn't have made it out for at least another hour.

The space bees fabric might have been worth the wait, though.

JOANN is closing 500 of its 800 stores. There goes my primary source of a lot of craft supplies. They're closing everything around here.

They were the only place that had a decent fabric selection. There is now just one small shop that is decent but limited in what they carry, or driving an hour to a Michael's, or seeing if any big box stores have what I'm after (unlikely).

Today's weird craft store find. I'm not quite sure who the target audience for this bit of Halloween decor is, and I'm not sure I want to know. Someone who likes candy corn and what? Toilet brushes? Things that look vaguely like pine trees? Or something else entirely more painful?

I’m supposed to be on a “fabric fast” until Easter, but some deals on #JoAnn and jellyrollfabric.net mugged me recently.

My step-MIL is thrilled with the table runner I started making for her last year; ironically she loves the blue-purple-gold backing fabric more than the desert-theme jelly roll strips. It’s longer and wider than necessary, so I’ll have a small table topper for myself after cutting it to size. Currently in the “procrastinate before cutting” phase, and the “overthink how to assemble” phase too. This involves much coffee.

The simplest solution is probably to quilt the strips on batting, square up, add the backing right-sides-together, and turn inside out. Then stitch a little in the middle, but keep the backing looking nice.

Still have too many unfinished projects, but fewer than before.

A heads up to anybody who's trying to buy fabric online:

Twice in the past three days I have gone to Joann.com looking for wide fabric to use on the back of a quilt. Twice, I have found wide fabric that says on the web site that it is in stock, and ordered two yards thereof.

Twice, after going through the whole checkout process, I have suddenly received email messages saying 'Uh Oh! Item(s) from (order) have been canceled'.
