Contacted the #ADA information line today. I'm interested in taking the #JLPT, but the American JLPT administration is trying to tell me that HQ would likely turn down my request to have someone read the test and write my answers. Considering this is a reasonable accommodation and that I'd be taking the test in person in the U.S., I feel like I have a case here. At this point, I've had several issues trying to access some of their materials due to accessibility issues, so I'm frustrated. #Blind

This made me laugh this morning because it's so true. One for the #JLPT takers.

#jlpt done. Not confident at all about the result, but I surely did what I could. It felt like the simulations I did: if I've passed it it will be the listening section which have saved the day. Results available at the end of August. Alea iacta est !

I did another simulation of #jlpt today and passed it with 62%. Strong on the reading and listening section, not great on the vocabulary and grammar ones. I feel like I'm going to need a bit of luck Sunday as it will depend on how much of the Kanji I haven't studied yet will show up. Only one fifth remaining, but that's most of those the N1 is about. Also praying for a good sleep the night before, but not hoping much...

I did an online simulation of #JLPT N1 and got 77.8% of correct answers !
May not be so difficult after all...

I have done 4 full test exams now ready for next weeks N4 exam.
I was going to squeeze in one more over several days but as I sailed through today’s one I’m inclined to just revel in the victory and repeatedly drill my mistakes for the next week instead.
What do you think?

New milestone in my Japanese Kanji study: I've been able to reach a perfect score on all first eight levels (among ten) at once !!!!! 400 reading/writing quizz from a set of 1608 kanjis.
Ahead of schedule for #jlpt N1, it gives me nine days to review other sections which I intended to leave out for this session. I still don't hope I can pass it this time but that increases the chance for a lucky miracle, and keep me ahead for the next session in December.
For now, I probably deserve a lazy and self indulging rest of the day, right ? Too bad the weather is awful but let's try to positive anyway for once !

I have a question about the next #jlpt session. I've registered in March for July 5th session, double checked today that all my details are correct, but still haven't received my 受験票. Is that normal. If you have registered have you already received yours ?

📚 JLPT N2 Grammar of the Day
✏️ 〜得る/得ない📖 Usage:
Verb stem + 得る/得ない. Expresses potential or possibility.💡 Nuance:
More formal than できる. Often used for abstract possibilities or capabilities rather than concrete actions.📝 Examples:
1. この結果は予想し得るものだった。
→ This result was predictable.2. そんなことはあり得ない。
→ That's impossible.3. 理解し得る範囲を超えている。
→ It's beyond comprehensible limits. -
3. 漢字はもちろん、ひらがなも読めない。
→ I can't read not only kanji but also hiragana. -
Finally got my certificate for passing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test for the N4 level in December. Now I passed N5 and N4 with a year between them but N3 will not be that easy, or that fast.

Does anyone have advice/opinions on a good textbook to work with for the #JLPT N5 test? Also unsure if the most appropriate list of Kanji for this level. I’m thinking of the revised & expanded Nihongo So-Matome N5, or possibly Genki I (plus Anki flashcards & Bunpro practice tests)
ありがとうございます !

I know I shouldn’t think about resolutions for next year given my chronic organisational abilities… but could I go from daily Duolingo Japanese (532 day streak) to #JLPT N5 this year? It would require a huge effort methinks… but would be amazing if I could do it.

I'd be interested to know how comfortable other #FamiChiki members are with speaking, reading, and writing #Japanese. If you know more or less what your #JLPT level is (or would be if you took the exam), answer the poll. Please elaborate in the comments. I'm particularly interested in how comfortable you are with writing Japanese (with a keyboard). BTW, I've been a professional translator for 35 years, but have never taken the JLPT. 30+ years ago, a Japanese prof a Columbia U. told me I was N1.

Good luck to everyone sitting the #JLPT today! Don't forget to go for a walk afterwards, if the weather is nice! :neofox_blep:

I have my N5 Japanese exam this Sunday(!). I keep having stress dreams about it. The other night I dreamed I was cycling around London, couldn't find the test centre and ended up missing the exam. I also dreamed that I forgot a pencil and had no way to answer the questions.
I think it's good stress, but I haven't had dreams like this since I was a student 😆
ちょっとドキドキよ! #jlpt

Only two weeks left until my #Japanese test (#JLPT N4)! Found a great source for practice tests at https://bunpro.jp/jlpt_practice_tests.
They are freely accessible without a login; are really high-quality; and have detailed feedback on *why* the false answers are wrong.
I think my biggest risk of failing the test is not getting enough points in the Listening section, so I'll focus on practicing these a lot!
