Rosetta Howard is one of the overlooked goddesses of 30s combo jazz. She was "hep to the jive" so today you would say she was jazz underground. Her songs (in the 30s always with the Harlem Hamfats) were about sex and especially drugs. "I'm a viper" and "candy man" are icons of reefer jazz. Welcome home.
