“Blind Owl” from TexiCali, an exceptional 2024 album by Dave Alvin & Jimmie Dale Gilmore. Alvin wrote and sang this tribute to Alan “Blind Owl” Wilson, co-founder of Canned Heat, who died from a drug overdose at age 27 in 1970. #davealvin #jimmiedalegilmore #bluesrock #vinyl
(ARTE, Wh.)

Thanks for the video! Hadn't thought about those great guys for awhile.
I know that The Flatlanders — Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock, and company — all sing "Dallas" on this video, and it was one of their favorites from their early days.
But wasn't it written by Gilmore, not Ely?

“Joe Ely came out of West Texas like a rocket and shook the ACL stage like nobody before or since. As far as we’re concerned, Joe was and will always be a superstar.”
