There is a moment with Xiaohu that is pictured here where he breaks down after their initial escape. He blames himself for what happened to his Dad and it's such an emotional moment.

Second - holy crap. The pop of color in the very last panel where the only color was the red of the blood coming out of the stab wound. Just wow. Well done.

I like this series, but it is at the same time doing too much and not enough for me. It feels like it could end soon, but we will see.

Jiangshi X - So, this couple chapter arc of our trainee monks ends with their superior coming in to stop the Level 3 Jiangshi. However, something is coming. The past few chapters have been building to what feels like an invasion.

This can go a few different ways. We could be seeing an invasion changing the nature of the series to about the trio on the run after the fall of their support base. It could be leading up to a war with huge arcs about the war effort. Or it could be something else entirely.

We'll see.

The rest of the chapter was their test to see if they are allowed to formally join the ranks as a Daoshi (warrior monk who fights vampires).

Decent first chapter that did a good job introducing the concept & characters.
