Finished making this piece for my wife and best friend Lisa. Christmas present. Silver, gold, Norwegian Maple. This was a lot of meticulous fun to make. Getting the wood cut to fit as perfect as possible was the biggest challenge. This was the third attempt and it came out great. The gold came from some pieces of jewelry that used to belong to Lisa's mom. #jewelrymaking #artmetal #mixedmediaart

"The 'Hatch' facility on Summer Street is right around the block from the main library. The workshop is stocked with tools, materials and expertise for everyone to learn in a venue that fosters #creativity.
"We have scraps of material to play around with, the #SewingMachines, or create something, #JewelryMaking. It doesn't have to be prescriptive. You can go there and see what appeals to you," Hewitt said.
"The #Hatchspace is a standout amongst similar programs in Massachusetts, and it just celebrated it's tenth birthday. It has #ButtonMakers, #LaserCutters, and even #3DPrinters.
"Talented expert volunteers are on hand to assist patrons with their projects, which is how Seth Deitch first started making things in the space.
" 'We're very lucky to have the people that we have who volunteer here. Many of them are extremely talented. Lots of people with advanced degrees,' Deitch said.
"Hatch also offers workshops that more and more people in the community are getting involved in.
" 'It's nice having a space for the entire community that's free to come to and work at,' Deitch said. 'Nowadays, people spend a lot of their time staring at screens, not enough working with their hands.'
"The best part is, anyone in the state can get in on the fun.

An green aventurine thumb stone put into a beaded netting bezel and strung together with matching rondelle beads, and 8/0 and 11/0 beads. The piece measures 18 inches, with plans of an extender chain/clasp the moment I can find my jump rings. 😅
Traditionally, aventurine symbolizes fortune and luck, and has been called a "gambling stone" in many circles. Funnily enough, I was finishing this necklace as one of my nephews was trying to defeat Aventurine on Honkai: Star Rail. 😂

Often I'll go to the library and check out a fat stack of whatever comics they have, mostly standalones though since they rarely have multiple comic books in a series available in sequential order.Oops I got too wordy again, better cut it off here 😅

A while back, I had the opportunity to get a free Potomac Beads kit during their holiday events last year, and I finally put it together.
The piece measures about 22 inches (56 cm), comprising of jet black fire polished glass beads of various sizes. Four mm bicones and 11/0 seed beads act as spacers between them. The original design doesn't call for the galvanized brass/gold bicones shown in the second picture, but I thought they would look good with the entire piece.
