On September 25, 1917, Chajka Klinger was born in Będzin, Poland. She led the Jewish Combat Organization (Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa, ŻOB) in the Będzin ghetto. On August 1, 1943, she was detained, interrogated & severely tortured by the Gestapo. She immigrated to Palestine in March, 1944. At the age of 40, she committed suicide April 18, 1958 (the 15th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising.
