Exclusive interview with Jimmy Lozano of Jet Jaguar

Mark Pruett

Formed in 2014 in the vibrant heart of Cancún, Jet Jaguar has quickly risen as one of Mexico’s most electrifying metal exports. In a country where heavy metal pulses through the veins of generations, their sound is both a tribute and a rallying cry. They are proof that the love of metal in Mexico is fierce, loyal, and deeply rooted. Also, the future is in the great hands of these underground heroes.

Their name carries weight. The jaguar, a sacred symbol in local mythology, represents power, protection, and the ability to walk between worlds. It’s a fitting emblem for a band that blends tradition with thunder. And yes, there’s a nod to the Japanese cult hero Jet Jaguar, who is a kaiju-fighting machine with a heart of gold and fists of steel. That fusion of myth and pop culture mirrors the band’s own blend of classic metal spirit and modern fire.

In this interview, we dive into their journey, their inspirations, and the roar behind the riffs. Jet Jaguar is a force to be reckoned with their new release Severance (out on October 24, 2025). Check out the lead single, “Mach 10”, which is speed metal, face melting, and riff blazing powerhouse of energy.

Full review of the album, Severance, is coming soon!

take everything I said about the abyssmal Megalon short and apply the exact opposite to #JetJaguar

A physical actor playing a character locket into literally a single stiff facial expression giving a performance that shows such pathos and emotional nuance.

If the CGI shorts were a corporation shoving its IP™️ in a single project, this is like a fan stopmotion short you'd see on youtube.
Technically "worse", but there's so much love for the art form here.
Gives me life.

Toho has been dropping some great shorts for the 70th anniversary of Godzilla. This time they brought back Jet Jaguar! #toho #godzilla #JetJaguar

Godzilla vs. Megalon (ゴジラ対メガロ) was likely the first AI movie I ever saw. Early on, agents hijack control of the perfect android from naive inventors, a scenario they had anticipated, however the AI, realizing the inherent danger of having a master control, disconnects and becomes autonomous!

Of course this could never happen in real life…

I haven't see #Godzilla vs #Megalon (1973) in living memory, and don't seem to have a copy. It's on the kid-movie end of the Godzilla spectrum.

Jet Jaguar was named by a winner of a contest for kids. I love that, and feel that it gives the name a mystique and a mojo no studio writer could have given it.

He is a monster-rasslin' giant #Roboto, and a good guy, and somehow ends up on Team Godzilla.

March of Robots #20: Jet Jaguar.
I had to include him. He was sitting half-dismantled in the street with a placard saying 'WILL FIGHT MONSTERS FOR OIL.'

Godzilla vs Megalon (1973)

Great to see you in the fediverse @jet Jaguar! I've been appreciating your tunes for years. I think I first discovered them on a Loop compilation in the late 90s, would that be right?
