In 2024, at my 18th birthday, I remember visiting my church for the noon. It was sunny and an amount of youth went up, it was a summer meeting. Not too large, but the hangout type.
If you have a german mother, you'll likely know what was about to happen. Since she was baking stuff for my birthday anyway, muffins in that case, she was saying I shall take this huge box of them with me just so that everyone will get one. Thing is, I didn't know half of those people well, and even more didn't really care about me. Maybe they would've cared more about the box, what do I know. So my move, admitedly a little jurkish was to ask the people who actually saw me and interacted if they wanted one or 2, since I had to take a box back home that was more empty than when I brought it. I was sick of being nice to people just because I'm being told to, when they wouldn't be back to me, heck they wouldn't even chat with me. I just didn't see a reason as for why I'd need to do this.
But here's the deal. Jesus was in worse situations. Even today, many don't even know his name. It's enough to go to some asian countries to find that out, even ones like Thailand. People rejected and still reject him. Publicly go against him. Turn scripture. But even for exactly them, he sacrificed himself. Let this just sink in more than your sunday church sermon. When it was done, the earth was shaking, God killed himself because of us. Even though he can't really be dead, he killed his earthly form. In pain, a lot of it. And that not just for the people who said: "Jesus, I see you. You are my lord, and I'll of course praise you." Even for the once who curse him. For what it's worth, from one second to the other, God might turn their life around.
I feel that God has just sent me this thought while I was eating a good 20 minutes ago. Let this enspire you. Let it make you seek the perfect God, as flawed, stupid, broken as you are. It doesn't matter. Would it be real to do so otherwise?
