Pictures taken while travelling over the scenic #Bohinj line from #Nova-Gorica to #Jesenice in February 2017, on board a #SlovenianRailways 🇸🇮 class 813/814 unit. These railcars, of Italian design and similar to #FS 🇮🇹 ALn 668.1800, were built in the 1970s. And they come with opening windows.

#InterCity 291 to #Beograd 🇷🇸 via #Ljubljana 🇸🇮 and #Zagreb 🇭🇷 with through coaches from #Munich 🇩🇪 is seen here at #Finkenstein 🇦🇹 in July 2002. An #ÖBB Class 1110.500 electric is hauling the consist over the #Karawanken #Karavanke line between #Villach 🇦🇹 and #Jesenice 🇸🇮.

Noch rechtzeig vor dem Saisonstart wurde der Fahrplan des #Karawankensprinter zwischen #Villach 🇦🇹 und #Jesenice 🇸🇮 so angepasst, dass je nach Wochentag in Jesenice ein Anschlusszug nach #NovaGorica 🇸🇮 erreicht wird. Statt bisher erst um 9:09 kommt der Radsprinter nun bereits um 8:04 (Sa-So) bzw. 8:30 (Mo-Fr) in Jesenice an.

Damit hat Villach zu Ostern und in der Sommersaison nun morgens eine abgestimmte Umsteigeverbindung ins #Sočatal und in die diesjährige #Kulturhauptstadt.

A place perfectly reachable by train, located on the 1906 built Bohinj Railway🛤 between #Jesenice🇸🇮 and #NovaGorica🇸🇮! This time worked by a #SŽ🇸🇮 class 610 "Stadler FLIRT" DMU.

Warmbad #Villach 🇦🇹 station, the other day: a southbound intermodal, hauled by a pair of #ÖBB Class 1293 #Siemens #Vectron electrics, is passing through. About one kilometre further down, at Auen Abzw. fork, the line splits into the #Tarvisio 🇮🇹 and #Jesenice 🇸🇮 branches.

Von Villach geht es die ordentlich Wasser führende Gail entlang zur Bundesstrasse nach Arnoldstein. Dieser Grenzübergang ist mir noch aus der Zeit bekannt als er mehr war als ein paar verlassene Bars und Geschäfte, vor denen heute aus unerfindlichen Gründen alte Möbel verkauft werden. Hier war die Grenze zwischen Eierteigwaren und richtiger Pasta, zwischen “Parmesellokäse” und Parmesan am Stück und zwischen Filterkaffee und Espresso. Hier ist man vor dem EU-Beitritt Österreichs und vor Schengen stundenlang im Stau gestanden, im Gepäck Olivenöl, Baci, Parmesan und “ein wenig” mehr Barolo als beim Grenzübertritt eigentlich erlaubt. Electrification border in #Jesenice.

When my train coming from Ljubljana (3 kV) arrived it lowered the pantograph, coasted through the neutral section, and stopped at the far end of the platform under 15 kV. Only once the crew had changed did it then raise it again. Had not actually followed earlier how the system change happens combined with a station stop.

Eine Autobahn von #Ljubljana Richtung Norden wurde wegen Überschwemmungen gesperrt. Zahlreiche #Grenzübergänge, etwa der #Seebergsattel, der Grenzübergang #Raunjak und der #Loiblpass, sind wegen #Überflutungen oder Murenabgängen gesperrt, wie Ö3 und die heimischen Verkehrsclubs berichteten. Ein Ausweichen ist nur großräumig möglich. Betroffen ist auch der Zugsverkehr. Von und nach Slowenien können Züge laut ÖBB derzeit nur ab bzw. bis #Jesenice fahren.

Warmbad #Villach 🇦🇹 in #Austria‘s very South. A nicely preserved building along a busy railway line to #Tarvisio 🇮🇹 and #Jesenice 🇸🇮. The train station is dwarfed by the adjacent thermal spa complex: its presence generates a substantial part of the passenger traffic by rail here.
