Spotted sun orchid (Thelymitra ixioides) near Hyam's Beach, NSW - another coastal location where most of the flowers have no spots. Flowering had already pretty much finished here in mid-September with only a handful of plants still out.

Caladenia hillmanii (purple-heart fingers) in open forest at Jervis Bay, NSW. Some variation in flower size, shape and colour at this location with some plants not having the distinctive maroon labellum side-lobes this species is known for.
Generally regarded as a coastal species growing at altitudes of 0-200m but I've seen almost identical variations on a population of Caladenias in Monga NP at 700m altitude.

Wildlife officials still searching for #humpback #whale #entangled in rope off the #Gippsland coast.
The juvenile whale was first seen late Saturday heading slowly south about 250 metres off the coast of #CapeWellington.
The animal was seen again on Sunday morning & was described as moving “very slowly”, appearing underweight.
It’s likely to be the same whale seen earlier this month in #JervisBay, #NSW. Members of the public who see the animal are urged to call the hotline on 1300 136 017.

Did you see #JervisBay primary school on #ABC730 last night? We did and then today on a walking trail we bumped into them - 10 kids, 2 teachers and an Indigenous leader sharing knowledge with the enthusiastic children, linking the seasons of the wattle with the timing of whale migration up and down the coast.

Riding solo around the Nowra / Jervis Bay part of the coast, while on a family holiday. Good roads, decent drivers, beautiful destinations and almost perfect weather ( I can cope with the headwinds but a little cooler would be better).
I used Strava to find a couple of routes within my capabilities that matched my preferences and I was very pleased with both.
Day 1: Nowra Loop through dairy country (60km)
Day 2: Callala Beach and Point Perpendicular (75km)

Sent from Peggy to her parents. She was having a nice trip and had morning tea on the train, and had a lovely room at Westward Ho.
She asked her mother not to do any work (due to a bad leg). Peggy was going to help out when she got home. She wished them all a Happy New Year. -
