With the recent frosts my #Roselle & #JerusalemArtichoke plants are no more.
We do have loads of seeds from the Roselle, so we’ll do them again & we have a huge amount of chokes to eat. 👍
The only thing still going is my #PinkPanther #DragonFruit.

I’ve been #hydrating all day, taking #electrolytes with some of my water, but I go outside, give the #alpacas & #lambs some lucerne, then water the #Roselle & #JerusalemArtichoke - the next minute liquids are #spewing (the operate word) out of my mouth & I lose all sense of balance.
Naked under the fan now, a bucket beside me if more liquid wants to rush up my throat.

In any event, my better half just gave our #Roselle & #JerusalemArtichoke a good soak while I went out back & topped up the #alpaca & #lamb water troughs.
Strangely, I came back from the trough watering with blood streaming from my right wrist.
I have no idea how I managed to damage myself.

So I’ve spent the cool morning (21° Celsius) feeding the #alpacas & #lambs AND doing some #gardening!
Of the 16 #Roselle flowers we had yesterday, 5 buds have dropped off the plants.
If the weather wasn’t a constant roller coaster, I’m sure they’d be doing much better.
The #JerusalemArtichoke plants are looking good & are tolerating the temperature changes now.
I’m loving my new hose & nozzle. Beats a watering can any day!

The tub that was against the brick wall of the house is now with the #Roselle plants & is as big or bigger than them.
The #shadecloth domes have been removed from the chokes growing in potting mix bags - they outgrew the domes!

After several #helpful #suggestions from across the #federation on my replanted #JerusalemArtichoke #problems with the #heat & being replanted so #shallow in potting mix bags; I’ve now got #shadecloth & potato #growbags on order.
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. #gardening

My original #JerusalemArtichoke pot minus 2 of the 3 tubers that were in it.
All that growth is from one #tuber!

I’ve started 4 new #tubers in bags of #potting mix with drainage holes on the underside & a large diamond shaped opening on top for the plant to be watered & grow through.
Two of the plants that were in the tub have been replanted into bags of their own as well, but with square holes on top.
No reason for the hole shape change. 🤪
Photos later as my back is currently complaining about me carrying potting mix bags around & doing some bending.
Sigh. #gardening.

#JerusalemArtichoke - has anyone here tried #growing and/or #eating them?
I’m thinking of #planting some in my yard.
What do they taste like? I’ve never tried #artichokes so don’t say “artichokes”. lol.

I grow a lot of them in large pots. I never plant these in ground because they'll spread too quickly & hard to contain in ground. I can control them better, in large & movable pots.
Also known as the Jerusalem artichoke plant - despite it not being from Jerusalem & it not being an artichoke. It was first cultivated by #IndigenousPeoples of North America.
