  5. "It is hard to stop successive rounds of strikes and counter strikes when the countries concerned believe they will be seen as weak, and deterred, if they don’t respond. That is how wars spin out of control." #JeremyBowen #War #Peace bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm2742…

  6. ℹ Report by #BBC's #JeremyBowen:

In the end it was a diplomatic achievement that the ceasefire lasted as long as it did. Now, after a seven-day pause, #Israel and #Hamas are facing their greatest #military and political challenges

For #Hamas, it is the fight to survive. As long as a #Hamas gunman can pull a trigger or launch a rocket into Israel it will claim to be undefeated

For all its overwhelming #military power, #Israel's task is more complicated

  7. @breadandcircuses Nonsense! You only have to listen to Jeremy Bowen's shocked voice as he reports on the Gaza war on the BBC, and the many interviews with traumatized Gazan doctors and citizens, to form a fairish view of what's going on. And of course the reminders of what happened on 7 October, and the run-up to it. I think we're lucky to have the BBC's brilliant journalists. Clearly not so lucky that #Netanyahu is Israeli PM.

  8. #JeremyBowen visited a kibbutz subjected to atrocities and for some reason today on #bbcr4today decided to report as little as possible on that. He makes a virtue of reducing the distance between journalist and event so I wonder if this kibbutz visit was not his choice and he took back control by not reporting on it. I see a qualitative difference in how he reports atrocities depending on whether Israelis or Palestinians are victims. I'll listen later to see if I'm wrong.
