THE STRANGE ONES - Jean-Pierre Melville - 1950 - ★★★⭑

A very good adaptation, with its surreal and literary rendering. Subtle acting, beautiful lighting, impressive and sophisticated staging. A must-see.

More stained glass from #Metz. This is all by Jean Cocteau and is in the Église Saint-Maximin a rather basic 12th century church in Metz.
Installed in 1960 they were both Cocteau's last project, and his only one in stained glass.

Just before leaving home, a father asks his three daughters what he can bring them as a return gift. The eldest two ask for silly, extravagant things, but the youngest simply wishes the most beautiful flower. The father finds it in an enchanted garden, guarded by a terrible beast… ☞ https://write.underworld.fr/settima/la-belle-et-la-bete-1946
