  1. Unlike a lot of composers of the era, Jean-Baptiste Lully was highly celebrated during his time and even became extremely wealthy due to his popularity and being sponsored by the royal court. He was also fairly openly bisexual which sometimes caused him trouble in the royal court but King Louis XIV loved his work so much that he overlooked it.

  2. Jean-Baptiste Lully AKA Giovanni Battista Lulli ( November 28, 1632 – March 22, 1687) was a French-Italian composer, dancer and instrumentalist. He’s known as the master of the French school of baroque music and spent the majority of his career working in the court of King Louis XIV composing operas and ballets.
