Algo que me acaba de ocurrir es que aquí desde Aduana van a subastar instrumentos musicales y dentro de ellos hay un #bajoelectrico #Fender #JazzBass y parece que la puja de dinero empezaría en $250.000 argentinos, usados en tiendas y demás el Fender Jazz Bass más barato que he encontrado ha sido de $1.000.000 por lo cual pareciera que la subasta valdría la pena de intentarla.
Ahora lo siguiente, como estoy aprendiendo, soy novato y estudiante, estoy en un par de grupos de bajistas y decidí consultarles sobre el tema.
Lo primero que me dijeron fue que viera si el bajo es japones, mexicano, yanqui porque la madera, porque esto, porque lo otro. Y yo me quedé pensando que sí, entiendo que en teoría depende de qué país haya fabricado el bajo pareciera que va a ser de mejor o menor calidad, pero entiendo que incluso el Fender fabricado de menor calidad con respecto a sus pares de la misma marca está muy por encima de los $250.000 que pide la subasta por lo cual ¿Realmente me interesa si el bajo fue hecho en México y es de mejor calidad que su homónimo de Japón? Para mi no, pero no quise discutir con músicos más experimentados.
Luego está el tema de que el bajo que subastan puede que no funcione así que consulte el tema de los arreglos y me dijeron que podría ser por eso o lo otro que no llegara a funcionar, y nuevamente salieron con algo como «Si no le funcionan las pastillas y se las tenes que cambiar no le vas a meter unas genéricas, tienen que ser Fender porque el sonido no es el mismo». Acá nuevamente empiezo a cuestionar cosas cómo ¿Es una falta de respeto si primero le pongo un repuesto genérico a un bajo de marca? O sea, quizás sea la primera opción y luego ahorrando (si es que puedo) le pongo un repuesto mejor, «original» si se quiere llamarle, pero también está el tema de si realmente Fender suena mejor porque es marca o ya ahí nos estamos enfrentando a una subjetividad vinculada con la noción de la marca.
Lo cierto es que todos los cuestionamientos que me surgieron me los guardé porque uno ya ha aprendido a identificar con quién se puede hablar sobre qué y cómo se debe hacer. No valía la pena cuestionar el fanatismo que el branding genera en las personas, simplemente tomé aquello que me parecía útil, di gracias y hasta luego. Pero como siempre quedan en mi cabeza preguntar que luego el tiempo responderá o no.

Getting ready for a gig in a couple of weeks by making use of the stem splitter in #logicpro to learn the rep. Had a fun moment tonight where I recorded myself in place of the existing #bass track, and dang my rig sounds good. ’76 #fender #jazzbass with EMG JVX pickups, a dab of compression. A little bass update - I finally upgraded my Plain Jazz Bass with this beauty, the Harley Benton MV-4PJ Gotoh SB. It’s basically a P-Bass with an additional J-style pickup that plays and sounds amazing. I started playing bass only a few years ago and my first bass guitar was this cheap Stagg Jazz Bass that I didn’t really get along with. The full-scale neck proved difficult to play in the beginning and the whole instrument felt too huge, so I never played it much. It also sounds somewhat unexciting and even today I refer to it as the big black beast, although I can play it much better now. I’m not particularly attached to it, so I may sell it someday. #guitar #bass #bassguitar #jazzbass #stagg
