  1. My #JavaOne talk on "Java and Post-Quantum Cryptography" is now on YouTube. Check it out!

  2. Most companies underestimate vendor risk in their tech stack.

    Until it hits them.

    Java is different.

Oracle leads and does most of the heavy lifting. IBM, Amazon, Microsoft, SAP, Azul and others all invest in the same platform.

    Not a single-vendor story.

That means stability. For companies and for developers.

That’s why I keep recommending Java.

If Java is on your roadmap, let’s talk. At XDEV, we help teams get it right.

(And yes, the Lego Duke from Azul at stays on my desk 😄)

  3. And they say, developer conferences don't have a dress code. Shout out to Volker Simonis for being one of best dressed folks at

Get yourself and an awesome Duke shirt at JCON europe.jcon.one

  4. Some of the best people in tech are in the Java community.

Sharat Chander is one of them.

25 years of supporting Java, JUGs, and Java Champions. You can tell he truly cares.

During , he even turned an errand into a great moment. Big US car, country music, good conversation.

    That meant a lot.

  5. There’s the Hallway Track… and then there’s the Airport Track.

Chatting with Michal Niczyporuk about planes while watching traffic at SFO. Learning about a great flight tracker: globe.adsbexchange.com/

Then a deep dive with Anton Arhipov on license servers, bytecode, and classloaders.

Want in? Wear Java swag. It starts conversations.

If you like that vibe, you’ll enjoy JCON EUROPE:

  6. At SFO after a fantastic JavaOne

Bumped into a guy from Vaadin who liked my shirt 😃

  7. “Lombok is like cocaine. At first, it feels awesome, but after a while, you regret your choices.”

Heard that at JavaOne last year—and it came back to me today during the fireside chat with Brian Goetz, Ron Pressler & team.

Lombok solved real problems—but by stepping outside the language.

Now Java evolves (records, pattern matching…), and those gaps are closing.

Rely less on workarounds, more on the platform itself.

  8. Day 2 at JavaOne: one theme stood out.

Java keeps getting faster… without us changing much.

The JIT improvements from 21 → 26 alone are significant (Netflix saw up to 3.5x in cases). Not one big change—constant small ones that compound.

Brian Goetz said: “Thinking is hard.”

    Feels true.
Code gets easier. Performance gets “free.” Thinking is the work.

Before you optimize—try Java 26 and measure.

  17. ☕️🤖 I’m excited for JavaOne and for Microsoft’s keynote presence with @chanezon, focused on what AI looks like for real Java teams: grounded models, trustworthy agents, modernization, and production discipline. The blog has the session list, booth details, and demo links:

  18. Do modern web apps really need a huge stack?
At #JavaOne 2026, XDEV explores a different approach: building enterprise-ready UI and persistence mostly with Java using Vaadin and EclipseStore.

📅 Drop by the Hack Haus and challenge the idea of “full stack”.

  22. Only 19 more days until JavaOne! This is a developer focused conference where many talks are by engineers working directly on the JDK and Java Platform.

And don't forget to use code J12026_BT_FH and get $150 off admission.

  23. The Java ecosystem keeps expanding. Modernizing your stack shouldn’t mean adding complexity.
At #JavaOne 2026, XDEV shares how to make disciplined tech choices, improve productivity, and evolve your Java architecture with a plan.

  24. Proud moment: XDEV’s CEO Richard Fichtner is one of only 16 Featured Speakers at #JavaOne.
For our customers, that means earlier insight into where Java is heading, smarter modernization decisions, and a partner deeply connected to the ecosystem.

We don’t just use Java — we live it.
